Reactive

There is an elemental quality to heartache.

Raw, intense, saturated.

Anything but smooth  or refined or gentle.

And in her world too prone of late to peaches and cream.

She’s done with muted pastels.

Embracing her heartache, like any emotion, as vivid color.

  1. As always, whether or 100 words or 500 words, you write a nice story and you are so good at finding a unique approach to a prompt. I liked this very much:~)

  2. A great piece of writing Valerie and a wonderful take on the prompt. The line that struck me most was the idea that heartache was – “Anything but smooth or refined or gentle.” So true.

  3. I’ve already stopped by to comment on this excellent 100 word, but I wanted to let you know. You set the mark. I’ve been trying over and over again to get a story in 100 words. Thanks to Light and Shade prompt and your inspiration, I finally did it:~)

  4. Day to day, we may be called to express ourselves in “peaches and cream”. But, hopefully, when we fully reveal our hearts and show true emotions, we allow ourselves to be indigo, fuschia and chartreuse!

You have a gorgeous way of expressing truth, dear Valerie. I love visiting your writing :))
