I forgot water for your lilies.
“Flighty!”
And I dented your Packard.
“Foolhardy!”
Then it slipped my mind to sport your platinum solitaire.
“Fickle!”
Call me what you will.
I’m calling it off.
The prompt: Love gone wrong…with a catch.

Did you do two versions of this because it showed up differently on my reader? I prefer this version though, suggests something else behind the insults.
Carol, I did:) I have the WORST habit of posting and then editing! Often, after I hit “post” I have these insights as to how I can improve what I’ve written-things I don’t think of until I see a piece of writing live on my blog. (To be honest, I do it every single time.)
Thanks so much for reading-both versions:) I’m so glad you like this one, because I did too-the words seem to fit better.
I do the same thing. Mainly because I am atrocious at spotting spelling errors, especially in comments.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one:)
I just read your piece and loved it!
I edit mine constantly as well – Why do we find the corrections only after we post? Great post here. I really like the opening lines and the so self-assured ending. Call it what you will… Great write!
I’m glad to know I am in such excellent company, Kelly:) Thank you so much:)
I do the same. But I enjoyed this one, another great write by you.
I’m glad so Glynis-it makes me feel even more like I’m part of a great community of writers:) Thank you, my friend:) xx
I heard the 3-Fs in William Powell’s voice…
Oh, I love your comment Jim! It’s William Powell perfect-and I’m honored:)
I think she’s divine! I enjoyed the frivolity of this piece–you can tell that she hasn’t a care in the world.
Thank you so much, Tina! I’m so glad you liked her! I don’t think she needs his flowers,or his car or his ring-or him;)
Fantastic! Fabulous! Feisty! Love the voice in this one, Valerie!
Fun comment, Kymm, from one of my most favorite friends;)
Is it wrong to say that I loved the “jazzy” element of this piece? It was almost like a Nora Charles soliloquy!
This was quirky and cute. Loved it!
This is a great piece, Valerie, as always dear. Loved it. Congrats for your well deserved win last time. Hugs!
I love her and her attitude! And this write!!!!!
I do the same thing. I fiddle after I push the button. In my case, it can’t be helped but I’m happy to hear someone as incredibly talented as you does the same thing! Happy Wednesday, Valerie!
This reminds me of the Great Gatsby. I really liked the attitude in this story. BTW I laughed so hard regarding the conversation about making changes after posting. I try not to do this, but like you and many other…sometimes I just can’t resist. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in my need to make…just a few changes:~)
Love the sureness here; it makes for a great character! 🙂 Carefree with certainty! Really enjoyed it!
I think freedom will suit her well 🙂 I like the tone of this and her independence!
Fabulous! I adore that she is fickle and carefree.
Amazing take on the prompt.. Unique !
This is fantastic, funny and fresh 🙂 I loved your alliteration and her attitude. Excellent work, Valerie!
You nailed it again. What a great piece!
I don’t blame him! haha
Sooner or later a dent in the Packard is gonna do that.. except for Daisy I assume
I knew from the photo this was going to be fantastic, and you didn’t disappoint. (Do you ever?)
Loved her attitude. So glad she told him to “F” off at the end. 😉 Such a fun read, my friend.
